l Animal studies (oral administration and IV injection) indicate that the polysaccharide (galactan) isolated from the ACM effectively inhibits ALT and AST indeces in a P. acnes (bacteria) and LPS (E. coli lipopolysaccharide)-induced fulminant hepatic injury mice (Chem. Pharm. Bull. 54(4) 496-500 (2006); US patent pending).
